Starz has recently begun showing American Psycho in their lineup for May, and I had not seen it in a couple of years. When it was originally announced I was really excited about the story and concept. I was also glad when I read that the atrocious Leonardo DiCrapio dropped out and Christian Bale would take over the lead role (Bale is really one of the best male actors under 40 that are making Hollywood films). Bale didn't disappoint in the role, but I remember being really disappointed in the film. Watching it again, though, I'm not as critical. Every piece of the puzzle didn't come together - the directing really didn't do justice to Bale's acting. It was generic, plain. Perhaps purposely so - since the idea of the main character is that he's soulless - but it just didn't work, however I don't think it completely fails in its purpose - it just doesn't succeed. I'll definitely stay on the lookout for The Informers.
